Experiment: Float And Sink

Objective: To enhance cognitive development and science experiments through play.
Method:
Tell the child to collect as many things as possible from home itself.
Then you (parent) fill water in two buckets.
Tell the child to put the things one by one in the bucket full of water.
Child will observe that some things are floating and some are sinking in the water.
In this way we can even explain them the concept of heavy and light.
That is, things which are lighter in weight,float in water,and things which are heavier sink in water.e.g, of light and heavy things.
Light things: feather,pencil,leaf,paper,hair,etc
Heavy things: marbles,stones,soap,comb,spoon etc
