Auditory Perception Skills is the ability to discriminate between the sounds of language. Inadequate auditory discrimination leads to improper speech and ultimately to an improper association of sound and printed symbol.
.For e.g. Compare Loud and soft sounds, e.g. a whistle, or pounding a hammer.
Play a pretend sound game. Have a child pretend to be something that makes a particular sound and the other children games. Focus on animals, weather etc
.Obtain a set of six to eight bottles of the same size and shape. Fill them with water to various levels. Strike each bottle with a spoon and compare the sound. Order the bottles from lowest to highest sounds. Blow across the top bottles to compare sounds.
Have the children describe their favourite and happy sounds and even most frightening and unpleasant sounds.
Show a card with the picture of a bat, a bell and say, this is a bell and this is a bat. Do they begin with the same sound?
Have children dial on telephone, three, four, five digits according to their age, to develop sustained attention.Have children repeat series of words from memory.
