Sensory: Smell

One has to recognize the immense importance of sensory learning and include a variety of activities and materials.

Let the child smell and identify by himself. Get various objects and ask the child to identify according to their smell.

Tell the child to close his eyes.

You can make him smell vicks, eucaluptus oil – It has a strong smell. You can also keep bread, talcum powder, soap, agarbattis etc

Children get the concept that some have strong smell and some have mild smell

The smell may also be burnt, fishy.

Explain the child by terms, that a smell may also be fowl or pleasant.

Field trip visit may also give first hand experience to the child, e.g. visit to a vegetable vendor, milk store, grocery store etc

The child automatically by play way learns the use of sensory organ smell.
